Annie (Exeter, England to Southern California)

Moving from Exeter to Southern California has been… peculiar. Everyone seems fascinated by me, but I can’t figure out if it’s my accent or the fact that I’m British. Strangers ask me to “say something” as though my words carry magic. It’s flattering, but also odd–I’m just Annie. Still, I’ve embraced the attention by sharing Cadbury chocolates with my classmates. “You’ve been eating Hershey’s this whole time?” I teased, watching their reactions to Dairy Milk and Crunchie bars. I’ve also introduced them to Hobnobs and Jaffa Cakes, explaining how they’re tea’s best friends. Even though I miss home, it’s fun to bring bits of England with me.
